UTB MECHANICAL ENGINEERING STUDENTS’ TECHNICAL SITE VISIT TO P23.
On 1st October 2024, Readymix Sg. Akar Batching plant (P23) welcomed Students of Mechanical Engineering year 3 from UTB for a technical site visit.
This technical site visit was led by Readymix Technical and Production Manager, Mr. Howell Dosal Carcillar and his department team. The purpose of this site visit was to introduce the students to the raw materials in concrete production, the manufacturing processes and the technologies involved.
The site visit started with the safety briefing from Readymix HSE officer, Mr. Hasrol and a warm welcome from Deputy Manager, Mr. Christopher Lau and Director of Readymix, Mr. Hamiddon Said.
The first on the agenda was the students were introduced to the cementitious materials and the aggregates. This was further explained by Mr. Howell Dosal Carcillar, on what are the compliant criteria needed for a quality concrete.
Next on the agenda, the students were then taken to the stockpiles area before going to the control area where they were then briefed on the technology adapted by Readymix to give fast and accurate quality control and traceability. This is to ensure the mix design specifics.
The last check point of the site visit was at the cube testing area where the students were shown the demonstration by the Quality control team on how they carried out the concrete slump test and the compression strength test on concrete cubes.
